The fourth evening of The Biergarten Film Festival and the final evening of The Enchanted Cinema Summer Season 2017!  We are so glad that Cambridge is as into Tarantino as we are and that we decided to end with Pulp Fiction.

It was the second time that we’ve shown Pulp Fiction this year and it has been magical to have held two sell-out events screening such a classic in such very different locations.  From The Orchard Tea Gardens in Grantchester to Thirsty Biergarten at The Museum of Technology on Riverside.  Each location is an iconic Cambridge space in its own way and showing one of our all-time favourite films to different Cambridge backdrops under the stars reminds of how fun, and magical, it is to have a pop-up cinema in this beautiful city.

What a whirlwind of a season!  From classics to new releases, we’ve shared magical evenings of outdoor cinema through glorious British summer rain and shine.  Whether spinning umbrellas or sun parasoles, sipping Prosecco or popping Champagne, crunching popcorn or munching Cambridge’s finest street food, each and every event across this season has never failed to feel as enchanted as our first event back in 2015.

“Outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge.  Our last screening at The Biergarten Film Festival.”

As an independent start-up we are over the moon and giddy with love for our city and its growing arts and cinema scene.  It is such a fantastic feeling for us to be part of all this magic and to be at the forefront of merging local music, street food, independent short films, and cinema to create summer evenings as have been documented through these blog posts over the past few years.

We’re brimming with ideas for next Summer Season, and until then we’ll be busy hatching plans to pop up in all kinds of enchanting locations.  Watch this space and our social media pages for information about our Winter Season…

Big love from Team EC. Until next time x

Last night was the penultimate evening of the Biergarten Film Festival and of our summer season 2017.

We’ve been waiting to screen Chef for a long time as it’s one of our favourite films and it was so great to be joined by fellow Cambridge foodies!

We had Joe of Buffalo Joe’s serving up his delicious free range chicken wings and chicken burgers.  That blue cheese dip is something else!  We love popping up alongside other local independent businesses and it was equally lovely to have Beanissimo Artisan Coffee Trike serving teas, coffees and their seriously delicious hot chocolate.  Looking forward to having Beanissimo back tomorrow evening for Pulp Fiction.

“Outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge – join us for an evening under the stars.  One screening left at The Biergarten Film Festival.”

Chef is all about the food and the wonder of street food, a travelling kitchen which serves dishes made with love.  Empire aptly advises in their review of Jon Favreau’s foodie film: ‘eat well beforehand of you’ll be in tummy-rumbling, tongue-hanging out in agony’.  Buffalo Joe’s made sure nobody went hungry and we had our vintage popcorn machines popping all evening.

The rain cleared up just in time for doors opening to our Enchanted Cinema space and we all enjoyed a clear evening under the stars and blankets.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Chef at The Museum of Technology, you were a magical audience and we hope to see you again soon!

Day 2 of The Biergarten Film Festival on Riverside and we had a full house!  Fresh popcorn was popping all evening from our vintage popcorn machines and drinks from Thirsty’s Bar were enjoyed.

We love popping up in different Cambridge locations and to be in the historic site of The Museum of Technology was amazing.  From The Cambridge Blue’s Garden to The Gonville Hotel, The Red Lion Grantchester and The Orchard Tea Gardens, we’re loving being back in central Cambridge and draping our enchanting lights somewhere so different.

It was so lovely to see some familiar faces and new ones too.  There’s always such a great atmosphere at our events and we feel super lucky to have shared so many evenings of cinema, drinks and food with Cambridge film lovers this season.

“Outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge – join us for an evening under the stars.  Two screenings left at The Biergarten Film Festival.”

The now iconic Charlie-and-Maverick-take-my-breathe-away scene had the audience clapping and cheering.  It’s moments like this during a film which remind us of the beauty of bringing a classic back to the big screen.

We had Beanissimo Artisan Coffee Trike alongside the cinema serving their delicious hot drinks all evening.  We’ve tried a lot of hot chocolates at Enchanted Cinema HQ and theirs is something else.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for an evenining of magical outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge, we hope to see you all again soon.

Day 1 of The Biergarten Film Festival with Thirsty Cambridge! In typical fashion the Great British weather was miserable all day before taking a magical brighter turn in the early evening for a gorgeous sunset and clear evening in time for an evening of street food, drinks and outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge

We’ve popped up at Thirsty’s summer Biergarten site on Riverside in the grounds of The Museum of Technology. We had a full house and a wonderful audience, under fairy lights and cosy under blankets.

We love this review of La La Land from Empire: “Audacious, retro, funny and heartfelt, La La Land is the latest great musical for people who don’t like musicals – and will slap a mile-wide smile across the most miserable of faces.” It sums up this film so well.  You really can’t not enjoy it and it was so lovely share such a seriously magical and all round feel good film with an audience of Cambridge film lovers.

“Outdoor cinema in the heart of Cambridge – join us for an evening under the stars.  Three screenings left at The Biergarten Film Festival.”

As always it was an absolute pleasure to pop up alongside Franck (the chef behind La Maison du Steak) and his street food van Pull Me Cheri. He served his delicious French street food dishes.

3 more evenings of films, food for foodies from local independent vendors and drinks! You can book your tickets to Top Gun, Chef or Pulp Fiction here.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for La La Land last night, you were a truly magical audience.  It was lovely to see some familiar faces of those who were returning for more Enchanted Cinema this summer and it was also great to share an evening of great film under the stars with first timers too!
