HALLOWEEN SCREENINGS

at

The Red Lion Grantchester & The Cambridge Blue

30/10/15 – 02/11/15

For Enchanted Cinema’s first Halloween Screenings we popped up heated marquees in the gardens of The Red Lion in Grantchester and The Cambridge Blue on Gwydir Street.

Decked out with deckchairs and blankets, our marquees were cosy in the spooky setting created by our team of artists and light installations built by Nemitode Lighting. The winter pub gardens were forgotten as we’d transformed spaces into eerie fairy-tale backdrops for some classics be screened against.

We chose great Cambridge pubs as our venues for these screenings and that meant a great selection of drink. From craft beers and local ciders on tap to fine wines and whiskies, our audience had their drink of choice in hand as they sat back to enjoy the film.

As well as the food from each pub’s menu, Enchanted Cinema had its usual classic cinema treats on offer. At each screening Enchanted Cinema chocolates by chocolatier Hans Schweitzer melted mouths and fresh popcorn was crunched.

First stop was The Red Lion in Grantchester. Situated on the edge of the then misty meadows, we first showed the timeless Ghostbusters followed by the cult classic The Lost Boys, staking an audience into evenings of gleefully ghoulish entertainment. Together with the team at The Red Lion Grantchester we designed a special menu in keeping with the themes of the films and offered service to each deckchair.

The second venue of our Halloween Screenings was The Cambridge Blue, just off Mill Road, in the heart of Cambridge. Though in the centre of the city, The Cambridge Blue’s garden sits (fittingly) adjoined to the Mill Road cemetery and so gravestones and bare branches.
