A magical summer’s evening was spent by all… in Neverland! This was the first of our two hugely successful evenings of alfresco cinema events in the garden of The Cambridge Blue. We transformed the space into a fairy tale setting for an outdoor screening of the Steven Spielberg classic, Hook.

This family-friendly event saw an audience of all ages share an evening under blankets, the glow of hanging lanterns and enchanting light installations by Nemitode lighting. There was live music before the screening. As we pulled back velvet curtains and the audience took to their deckchairs, the mood was set by the lovely Warren Daniels, a local musician and busker, with his spellbinding sound.

As bubbles floated through the air, pints of beer and glasses of wine from the bar were sipped. Enchanted Cinema chocolates by chocolatier Hans Schweitzer melted mouths, fresh popcorn was crunched and food from The Cambridge Blue’s kitchen was ordered.

The rest of the evening unfolded in a hum of Enchanted Cinema excitement as we were transported with Robin Williams to Neverland. We spent an evening in the company of the lost boys, Tinker bell (Julia Roberts) and Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). Laughs were had, tears were shed and when the film ended silence was broken by a beautiful eruption of applause. As headphones were taken off, an atmosphere of shared cinematic pleasure was felt by all.

Thanks to the Enchanted Cinema team, the lovely staff and owners of The Cambridge Blue and our enchanting audience. A magical, memorable and enchanting evening of outdoor cinema was created in the heart of Cambridge.
